I was born in Turin by the name of Salvatore Edoardo Luria, to a family of Sephardic Jews. In 1969, shared with my fellow researchers, I received the Nobel Prize in Medicine as a microbiologist, for my discoveries in the replication and genetic organisation of viruses.
