I am a French painter and textile designer of Ukrainian origin, born Sarah Stern in Odessa, in a Jewish family. I made a coloured quilt with geometric patterns for my son, now owned by the Musée National d’Art Moderne. Art historians consider the creation of the quilt to be a turning point, because it was the moment when painting broke away from nature and perspective.
